Corporate Faces of FAT - Sam from the Generator

What is your role within the Generator team?

I’m the community manager across our two Generator Britomart locations. A big part of my role is planning our member focused community events which can range from free lunch shouts, paint & wine nights to yoga/pilates mornings run by FAT.

How did your company hear about FAT and what does a FAT x Generator morning look like?

We initially heard about FAT through a Generator staff member who knew one of the instructors, Milly! Our FAT x Generator mornings usually take place on our beautiful harbour facing balcony at Britomart Place. Our members are able to enjoy an intimate yoga or pilates session and then be treated to a free coffee afterwards to start their day in the best way possible.

If you could highlight three main benefits you and your colleagues get from your FAT sessions, what would they be?
  1. The strong relationships/ bonds created between Generator members as well as staff who consistently attend our monthly FAT sessions
  2. The shift in Generators mindset surrounding the importance of member and staff wellness these events have created
  3. The ability to connect with colleagues and members who they haven’t had the chance to interact with previously
What advice would you give other companies thinking of getting FAT on board?

Getting FAT onboard at Generator has been one of our best decisions in regards to our community events programme, they make planning events so easy for us. They are very flexible even if we have last minute requests. FAT are always so accommodating and the instructors make it very easy for us to trust they’ll take care of the event. If you’re considering bringing physical wellness events into your workplace, FAT is the way to go.

What else does your employee wellness program involve?

We also have started doing monthly ice baths through ICEMUNITY which has been received very well by our members. We have also brought back ‘Wellness Wednesdays’ which can be anything wellness related, this past month we gave away immunity shots to our members to try and fight off the incoming winter sniffles.

In your ideal world, what does wellness in the workplace look like?

It would involve as many different onsite wellness professionals as possible for our members to have access to. From yoga instructors to chiropractors, masseuses, therapists etc. It would look like the workplace being a safe space for our staff & members to feel like they are encouraged for constantly wanting to improve their physical, spiritual and mental wellness through the events hosted by companies like FAT.
