FACES OF COACH: Meet Sofia!

How did you hear about FAT?

My best friend Izzy started training as a FAT instructor a few years ago and invited me along to one of her classes. I was immediately drawn to the authentic and loud outdoor workout FAT offered. Fast‑forward three years, and now I’m teaching/training alongside friends doing something I genuinely love.

Describe yourself in 3 words :) ?

Small, spicy, speedy.

What is your health and fitness background?

I’ve always been active growing up, spending a lot of time outdoors white‑water kayaking, hiking, and tennis, but running has always been that constant for me. Last year I ran my first marathon, which really kicked that passion into gear. Wanting a change, I started taking pilates classes and soon found myself completing my teaching certification.

What are your top 3 pieces of advice to build a healthy routine?

  1. Exercise with friends, they will keep you accountable and make it a lot more fun!
  2. Let go of the “all or nothing mentality”, consistency over perfection
  3. Buy a Ninja Creami

Do you have any 2026 fitness/lifestyle goals?

I really wanted to push myself this year physically, so I signed up for my first tri, a 70.3 Ironman in the Sunshine Coast. I’m an absolute newbie to cycling and swimming, so it’s going to be a big year of learning. I’m also hoping to take my Pilates overseas whilst hostel hopping through Asia - free pilates for free accomodation, win-win!

What is your favourite and worst exercise?

Favourite: Raise the platter

Worst: Leg kick through

Which advice would you give to a FAT first timer?

Trying any workout class can be intimidating, but FAT is a space where you can be real. So I’d say don’t be afraid to get amongst the energy and try yarn to someone new.

What would you like to learn or focus on in 2026?

Balancing the chaos of work, fitness and personal life and most importantly, getting my 8 hours of sleep, a tough one at the moment!
